Stories from Hotel Lyra Guests – Inspiring Experiences

Every journey comes with a story. At Hotel Lyra, we don’t just host people – we host pieces of life. Beyond restful nights and clean rooms, this is a place where moments are made, memories are rediscovered, and surprisingly beautiful experiences unfold.
We’ve gathered three real stories, inspired by what our guests often share with us. Each one left us with a smile and a reminder: a transit stay can be much more than a stopover – it can become part of an unforgettable memory.
A family, a child, and a quick weekend getaway
Andreea and Mihai, two young parents from Arad, arrived on a Friday evening with their 6-year-old son, Radu. They were looking for a simple, clean weekend escape close to Aquapark Nymphaea – without breaking the bank.
We chose Hotel Lyra because it was near the city entrance, had great reviews, and fair prices. But we didn’t expect to feel this good – quiet, clean, and incredibly friendly staff.
Radu’s biggest joy, without a doubt, was the day at Aquapark Nymphaea. Water slides, wave pools, and warm water – he was fascinated. It was his first experience at a large water park, and he couldn’t stop talking about how “huge” everything was.
In the evening, after all the fun, the family enjoyed the peace of their room at Lyra. The next day they explored Oradea Fortress, and their son said he “wanted to come back every weekend.” Hotel Lyra was the perfect base for this mini adventure.
A business traveler in search of balance – work and a touch of calm
Mr. Dinu, an IT consultant from Bucharest, came to Oradea for a few days of business meetings but hoped to combine work with some relaxation. He chose Hotel Lyra for its easy access, quiet atmosphere, and practical amenities: fast Wi-Fi and efficient check-in.
But beyond the laptop and phone, he discovered a city that pleasantly surprised him.
One evening, I visited the Darvas House – a true Art Nouveau museum. The next day, I walked around Republicii Street, had a great coffee, and fully disconnected. Oradea has a European charm I didn’t expect.
Mr. Dinu promised to return – this time with his wife – to better mix business with pleasure.
A journey from Germany in search of the past – and a week full of emotional discoveries
Johann, a 34-year-old from Frankfurt, grew up hearing stories about Oradea – his grandfather’s hometown, who emigrated to Germany in the 1970s. On a short vacation, Johann decided to spend a week in the city, hoping to discover the places his grandfather spoke about so fondly.
He chose Hotel Lyra for its good location and affordable price, but also because it seemed like a discreet and comfortable starting point for his personal journey.
I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for… just that I wanted to feel the place where my grandfather came from. To see the street he grew up on, the church where he was baptized. And I found it. With help from an elderly lady in the neighborhood who still remembered his family.
In those seven days, Johann explored old markets, Art Nouveau architecture, tried traditional foods, and spent hours admiring buildings that felt “from another world.” He said he got to know his roots better – and, in a way, himself.
